In late January (2018), the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association updated their guidelines for the management of acute ischemic stroke. One of the national authors of this update, Edward C. Jauch, M.D., interim chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, discusses what’s new in this update regarding thrombolytic therapy, endovascular surgery, in-hospital care, credentialing and more.
